There’s something in the air on the Eastside of Seattle – and it brings with it bold public developments, intriguing new construction projects and an overall continued growth upswing since the economic woes of several years past. Looking around our Eastside cities, you can feel the enthusiasm for what lies ahead as our urban centers are growing and our neighborhoods are being enhanced.
For its part, the City of Bellevue held a “Spring Forward Expo” at the end of April to highlight all the goings-on in the area. City council members and project managers introduced a bevy of new projects that will be underway in 2013. These include: more than two dozen transportation projects to facilitate increased flow of traffic on our highways and roads; a new Bellevue Botanical Garden Visitor Center and Bellevue Youth Theatre Program; a downtown Livability Initiative; and sites for future light rail stations.
